Moonee Colliery

Photo from East Lake Macquarie Historical Society showing an arial shot in 1992

Another photo from ELMHS showing an aerial shot of the area in 1992. ( Moonee Colliery in top right hand corner - left of center the grey building with white circle in right side was the storage bins, now the viewing platform? - to right of center at end of Hale St is the supposed area for our shop, used to be Knowles Bakery and other plant buildings there in previous times). There was even a second "pub" with Mr Trevellian listed as the licencee to the left of Hale St on Montefiore Pway back in the days of Cowper.

A few more photos from ELMHS. (posted with permission).

Photo 1 shows the Pit Top of Moonee Colliery.

Photo 2 is an old photo of the Main Camp area looking south. (can you notice all those buildings on the ridge line that were there before our beautiful homes were?)

Photo 3. Catherine Hill Bay had 4 schools between 1890 and 1984. This photo shows school No1 which was in the Church of England Hall situated behind where the catho pub is from 15/01/1890 to 17/01/1893. School No2 was situated in the United Methodist Free Church building up on Montefiorie St from 18/01/1893 until January 1895.

Another photo of Moonee Colliery b4 Beaches. (not my photo - not named). Of interest is the building site at the cnr of Hale and Montefiore Streets (where our proposed shops were marketed to be built) at center right of photo. (Clarke st is where the houses are and Hale is the next to the right). So we won't be infringing on any ones line of sight. (OMO).
