Minutes
Coffs Harbour Reunion 2022, 21/10/2022
Minutes For Meeting.
Present
Shayne Mclennan, Don McGrath, Dennis Abbey, Lindsay Hensby,
Craig McGregor, Paul Bullock, Don Lorimer, Alan Emery, Colin Russel,
Joe Bales, Warren Meers, Gordon Spears and Jim Hankey.
A big thank you for all those who turned up with their Better Halves at
Coffs Harbour for this reunion, particularly those who travelled a fair
distance from Tasmania and WA. It was good to see some new faces and
old mates.
Apologies from Pat Marsh (Swampy), Grahame Coles, Andrew Cobb, Cameron Armstrong and Paul Debono.
Friday night saw a dinner at a local Chinese restaurant that was
enjoyed by all present, except for myself, Don and Warren we went
down to Sawtell RSL for a Birdies reunion.
Saturday night we all were at the Park Beach Bowling Club for dinner
and drinks, some of us stayed a little longer that night, blaming it was
raining outside.
Then Sunday we had our wind-up BBQ lunch at the caravan park camp
kitchen, which was enjoyed by all with the raffles and a talk by Col
Russell about his involvement with the captured Greenpeace ship by
the Russian Military in 2013. Col was the Radio Officer on the
Greenpeace vessel which led to him being detained for some time in
Russian jail system. Something you would not like to go through after
listening to Col.
Gordon Spear (Gordo) also talked about his presentation of a Medal honoring his service in his local Fire Brigade.
Our current available balance as of 24/10/2022 in our account is
$890.46.
This may change slightly due to the cost of putting on the Sunday lunch
BBQ, and adding the profit from our Raffle.
After some discussion as to where we have our next reunion at, it was
finally decided to remain in Coffs Harbour area for our 2024 reunion. So
with added discussion about the timing we will be moving to late
February/ March of 2024. This was agreed to by all present due to this
current timing of October is extremely busy period in Coffs Harbour. It
was also agreed to change to Sawtell, approx 12km south of Coffs
Harbour, and it is closer to the airport.
Therefore our 2024 reunion will be at Sawtell, with an exact date to be
notified by January 2023 so all can book with 12 months notice.
Considering we are all turning 70 that year I think we should all have
one big birthday party, any suggestions as to what you may have in mind
please let myself or Don know and let's get something happening.
Another suggestion for a future reunion location for 2026 was either
Perth or a return to Canberra. This decision will be made by the attendees at the next
reunion in Sawtell.
Nominations for President, Vice President and Secretary/ Treasurer
It was agreed to by all present that the current executives for our
Association remain as their respective duties, therefore just to clarify with
no other nominations for the three positions the following applies;
President - Don McGrath
V/ President - Dennis Abbey

Once again thanks to all those who attended and let's look forward to
our 70's Big Bash in Sawtell 2024.
