Disappointing Facts about DVA Entitlement

When talking to Ex-Servicemen especially at reunions one of my main questions that I ask is, do you have a DVA Card?

Most of the time the answer is no.

The most common reasons given are,

  •     I didn't know I could get any help

  •  I wasn't in the navy long enough (10-20 years)

  • I just put up with what I have

I find this so disappointing that so many ex-servicemen and women could have been helped years ago.

Some who I have known died from their injury or illness not having any assistance from DVA at all, I am quite sure that if they have had help, they may still have been alive today.
